Swimming & Diving: Germantown Academy Wins Inter-Ac League for Third Straight Season

FORT WASHINGTON -- While the victories came a day apart, the outcomes were the same. On Jan. 30, Germantown Academy's boys swimming and diving team took down Malvern Prep on the road, 116-70, to clinch their third Inter-Ac League title in as many seasons. On the same day, the girls took down Notre Dame, 127-59. The next day, they followed it up with a 132-38 win over Baldwin School to win their third league crown. The Patriots have not lost a dual meet in the last three seasons.

Boys vs Malvern

  • Landon D'Ariano '24 took first in the 200 IM and set a Malvern pool record in the process, going 1:48.76. D'Ariano also won the 100 Backstroke in 50.14.
  • Brandon Fleck '25 took first in the 50 Free (20.33) and 100 Free (44.63), setting Malvern pool records in the process.
  • D'Ariano, Andy Zhou '24, Brandon Fleck '25, and Matthew Truong '26 won the 200 Medley Relay in 1:34.09.
  • Brendan Hodgens '24 recorded a season-best score of 309.75 to win the diving portion of the meet.
  • Dylan Shapiro '25 and Andrew Thompson '25 went 1-2 in the 500 Free, going 4:52.09 and 4:59.12, respectively. 
  • Fleck, D'Ariano, Zhou, and Thompson won the 400 Free Relay in 3:07.09, more than 17 seconds faster than the next relay team. 

Girls vs Baldwin

  • GA took first in every event.
  • The Patriots swept the 200 IM, 50 Free, 500 Free, and 100 Back.
  • GA swept the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.

Girls vs Notre Dame (Jan. 30)

  • Karly Boles '25, Isa Lieu '24, Amelia Gipson '27, and Arden Keitel '27 opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, going 1:46.45.
  • Emily Hamill '25, Camryn Jones '26, and CC Leoni '24, a Loyola University Maryland commit, swept the 200 Free. 
  • Sarah Freeman '25 and Keitel took the top spots in the 50 free, going 23.83 and 24.16, respectively.
  • GA swept the diving portion of the meet, with Laurel DePolo '25, Maddie Evers '26 and Libby Brewer '25 going 1-2-3. 
  • GA swept the 100 Free with Hamill (50.66), Mazie Williams '27 (53.01), and Nieve Keitel '27 (56.58) going 1-2-3.
